New GigE Vision line of Industrial Cameras from Hitachi Kokusai

Hitachi Kokusai Electric’s new line of Gigabit Ethernet (GigE) cameras includes 7 camera models of monochrome, color and 3CCD color cameras, all with a GigE Vision interface for ease of use.  The new lineup consists of 7 models; a 1.45M pixel 3CCD color camera, 3 single CCD color models and 3 monochrome models with resolutions of VGA, XGA, and SXGA, designed to meet the varied imaging requirements.

The GigE Vision interface allows a direct connection from the camera to the PC using high speed LAN cables that can be up to 100 meters in length. The use of standard LAN cables allows a reduction in system costs while the standardized GigE Vision interface speeds system installation and setup.

1/3″ 3 CCD High Resolution & High Sensitivity Industrial Cameras ~ Sony DXC-390 vs. Hitachi HV-D30

When high resolution and maximum camera sensitivity is a must, there are two cameras one should consider, the Sony DXC-390 and the Hitachi HV-D30. What is the difference between the two?

The Sony DXC-390 is a 1/3″ type DSP 3-CCD color industrial video camera that incorporates Exwave HAD® technology – a new Sony technology that greatly improves camera sensitivity (F8 at 2000 lx) while reducing smear compared to previous CCD technologies. In addition to a C-mount lens, a resolution of 800 TV lines and a high signal to noise ratio (S/N) of 62 dB (61 dB PAL), the DXC-390 also incorporates a new 10-bit DSP technology enabling a variety of enhancement features, increasing picture reliability. Video outputs include: Composite, Y/C and RGB.

Hitachi’s HV-D30, is similar to the DXC-390 as it is also a high performance, high resolution and high sensitivity (F9.5 at 2000 lx), 1/3″ DSP, C-Mount, 3-CCD color industrial video camera. Incorporating a 3rd generation DSP chip that uses Hitachi’s most recent processing technology, this camera is able to achieve a very small size in addition to low power consumption and high stability.

Hitachi’s smallest 3CCD camera achieves its high sensitivity and high resolution through the use of (3) 1/3 inch CCDs, each with 410,000 picture elements (470,000 PAL). Together with the 12-bit analog to digital (A/D) converter and 14-bit accelerated DSP, a horizontal resolution of 800TV lines and high signal to noise ratio (S/N) of 64dB (62 dB PAL) is obtained with the use of dynamic noise reduction (DNR). External Triggering and long-term integration mode. Video outputs include: Composite, Y/C, RGB, or Y/R-Y/B-Y. Flange-back (back-focus) adjustment for C-mount lens.

Both cameras are compact and lightweight making them easy to install and also interchangeable depending on the user application.Given the similar characteristics between the two cameras, they are both ideal for applications including machine vision, industrial microscopy, inspection, digital photography, remote camera systems, portrait proofing, amusement rides, point of view (i.e., sports shooting) and scientific image capture.
